This is hands down, without a doubt, the greatest hardcore LP of all time. It's a fucking shame I never got to see this band live, as I got into them after their reunion. Carry On's riffs were the hardest of the hard with Todd Jones helming the music writing because every riff was familiar enough to make it sound like one complete record and yet unique enough to make each song stand out on their own. And don't even get me started on Ryan George's lyrics. They were heartfelt, to the point and didn't pull any punches, just the way lyrics should be.
I got this album on the suggestion of a peer in the hardcore scene in 2005 because he knew I liked Terror's first record because of the guitarplaying. I was, before that anyway, mostly into metal (At the Gates, Extreme Noise Terror, Anthrax, Carcass) and that Terror record was one of the first hardcore records that made me listen and think "Wow this guitarplaying is INCREDIBLE!" So on que from my friend I went home and ordered Carry On's "A Life Less Plagued" from an old RevHQ mailorder zine (I was poor and didn't have internet, shut up) and it arrived like two weeks later. Well two and a half months later that cd hadn't left my cd player in my car and I had burned a seperate copy for my discman. After that I went back and checked out every band on their thank you list and the rest is somewhat history. 7 years later and its still the best sounding hardcore record of all time. This record was a stepping stone into the hardcore genre and on a more personal level, is still my favorite record/band of all time.
So I'm sure you all already have this but for those who don't...
